Coaching for Professors
The professional role of researchers today is more complex than ever: teaching duties, research projects, third-party funding acquisition, administrative tasks and mentoring often have to be managed simultaneously and under considerable time pressure. To cope with this complexity, self-management and reflection skills are becoming increasingly important.
In this environment, coaching has established itself as an interactive, goal- and resource-oriented consulting format. Unlike traditional mentoring or consulting, it focuses less on technical advice from the coach and more on expanding your individual scope of action. Coaches accompany you as equals and provide targeted support in unlocking your own potential.
Sound self-reflection is a basic prerequisite for this: in the protected coaching environment, you reflect on personal values, stress and communication patterns and develop tailor-made strategies for your academic work. In this way, coaching becomes a source of inspiration that enables you to actively shape your role as a professor, strategically navigate career paths and initiate sustainable change processes in academia.
Our coaches offer support in the following areas, among others:
- Leadership and role reflection
- Dealing with challenging situations
- Preparation for assessments and inspections
- Reflection on your own research strategy
- Change processes
If you are interested in coaching, please contact us in confidence. We work with a pool of coaches who specialise in specific topics.
For female professors individual coaching is also available through HHU's Equal Opportunities Officer.
